...Walton Family Fun Day 2018 Update...

Preparations are in full swing for this year's family fun day and we will let you know about all of the daytime activities closer to the time. For now though, we are excited that the fabulous firework display provided by Benchmark Fireworks for the last two years will be back again and better than ever! We will also be welcoming a new band - FAIRPLAY, a high-energy 5 piece who will be performing dance floor filling covers to keep you dancing through the evening. So if you haven't already saved the date, stick it on your calendar - Saturday 8th September. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Walton Village Hall Temporary Closure

Some of you will have noticed that the hall has been closed this week (14th - 20th August 2017) and will be wondering why. Well, Walton Village Hall was built in 1999 and to be honest, time has taken its toll on this busy community building.

In the last 18 months The Walton Trust has been working hard on a two year plan to carry out the more pressing and high value maintenance projects which will return the hall to its former glory. Works so far include:

Early this year all external woodwork was re-stained or painted and new guttering installed. During the current hall closure new environmental heating controls have been installed, old heating pipework replaced and new water regulation valves fitted to all the toilets and taps. A new, more efficient water heating tank has been installed to replace the current ageing one and works have been carried out to the tiles in all the toilets and kitchen area. Last, but by no means least, the sprung wooden floor in the main hall has been completely revamped and sealed to give it another 10 years of service.

We still have more works to carry out over the next 24 months or so including the exciting news of our new extension to the end of the hall giving more storage and a completely new state-of-the-art meeting room away from the main hall.

So, how do we pay for these works? Although we were fortunate to receive funding to have the hall built, it was always on the basis that The Trust would be responsible for on-going maintenance. Fees from regular users and bookings go a long way to cover this, but it wouldn’t be possible without the much-needed funds we raise from The Walton Family Fun Day.

This year’s Fun Day is on the 9^th September and is shaping up to be the best yet. Come along, bring your family and friends, help us raise some funds for the hall, but most importantly, have a great day!

Walton Village Hall

Welcome to the new Walton Village Hall website. We hope you like it. Since it was built Walton Village Hall has provided outstanding facilities for the community in and around Walton, Somerset. However, in order to continue to flourish, it is essential that the hall is used by as many people as possible. It is perfect for wedding receptions, private parties, sports and social clubs, so if you know a group or individual who could make use of our facilities, please tell them to get in touch.

We are proud of Walton Village Hall and wanted a more effective way of letting people know about the range of facilities we have on offer. Hence our new website! There is still obviously a limit as to the information that we can include, so if you think that the hall might be suitable for your wedding, party, meeting or sports club, get in touch for a chat. We'd be happy to show you round and discuss what we can offer you.

Walton Family Fun Day

And so the dust has settled and the sun has set on another fabulous Walton Family Fun Day!

Firstly, thank you so much to all who attended and helped us raise some much needed funds for the hall and the grounds. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.

Great days like these don't happen by accident, and behind the scenes is an army of unsung heroes without who the Walton Family Fun Day simply wouldn't be the same. There are far too many of you to mention but you know who you are and we thank you all.

The day would not have been complete without our two great live bands The Midrod Ends and The Harlem Rhythm Cats that kept you dancing till late into the night.

Huge thanks also to Benchmark Fireworks who stepped in at the last minute and provided a spectacular firework display, making sure that our 10th anniversary night went with a bang (and a whoosh and a fair few ooohs and aaahs!)

Not forgetting the other attractions provided by so many wonderful volunteers - St Johns Ambulance, Street Fire Brigade, Secret World, Walton WI , Walton Youth Group and Walton Church .

Apologies if we have missed anyone but rest assured, we greatly appreciate all of your efforts.

This year's 10th Anniversary Walton Family Fun Day was our best ever and will certainly take some beating. But don't worry, we're up for the challenge!! Thanks again to all who came along and supported us and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
